Fernie's Danielle Poleschuk took a well deserved trip to the podium Thursday where she took second place in the Hershey Cup Women's Giant Slalom in Panorama, BC.
Poleschuk, in her first year with the BC Ski Team, handily won the second run to vault her into second place overall in a two run combined time of two minutes 21.67 second. In her first podium of the season, Poleschuk and women's coach Nancy-Jo O'Neill were very pleased, “this is a great result for Danielle. She has worked hard and is already showing great promise in this her rookie season.”
Gretchen Glaser of the United States edged Poleschuk for the top spot in a combined time of 2:21.46 while Jessica Dakers of Calgary, Alberta was third in 2:22.99.
Giant Slalom action continues Friday with a final men's and women's race. Hershey Cup Series action wraps up Saturday and Sunday with men's and women's slalom races in Panorama, BC.
