Entry Level skiers from across BC will join Nancy Greene-Raine and the Sun Peaks Alpine Club for the culmination of the Alcan Nancy Greene Ski League (NGSL) season March 29-30, 2003 at the Sun Peaks Resort.
The young skiers, aged 5-12, will celebrate the end the of the BC Alpine season with a Dual Glalom Alcan NGSL competition and a Husky Snow Stars Skills Event, supported by Alpine Canada Alpin. Former Olympian and Female Athlete of the Century, Nancy Greene, will be part of the festivities for the two-day event for all BC Alpine E1, E2 and Alcan NGSL members.
Those attending the Husky Snow Stars Festival will have the chance to socialize with Nancy Greene-Raine while testing their skiing skills in a moguls, jumping, obstacle course and the popular RCMP Speed Trap skill stations. Additionally, all children registered for this event will match up in a “Dual Glalom”.
The goal of the Husky Snow Star Festival and the Alcan Nancy Greene Ski League is to celebrate the progress of skiers and ski racers of all ability
levels through the Husky Snow Stars program in an enjoyable and rewarding environment.
“It will be an exciting event to test the skills of our young skiers in BC while giving them the opportunity to meet a skiing legend,” said Gordie
Bowles, Program Director for BC Alpine. “But the most important part of this event is showing our youngsters that skiing is the most fun and exciting winter sport.”
The cost of the event is $40 which includes lift ticket, Alcan Dual Glalom, Husky Snow Stars Skills Event, Barbeque, awards and a day of skiing with Nancy Greene, who is the only Canadian to win the overall World Cup title
(1967-68).
