Aside from its regular board, general managers', and technical directors' meetings, this year's AGM will also feature meetings geared towards officials, safety, race secretariat training and race software management, timing training, and an athlete development seminar. According to President Ken Read, these meetings and seminars follow up the 2002 AGM where Alpine Canada Alpin introduced the Podium 2010 strategic plan for giving the Canadian ski racing program the human, technical, and financial resources to consistently deliver podium results on the world stage.
“The success of the Canadian team this past season is a great platform for us as we continue to work aggressively towards putting more Canadian ski racers on the podium,” said Read. “We know we're on the right track. This year's AGM focuses on the nuts and bolts of ski racing – the basics that might seem a little less glamorous, but are a key step forward to delivering the resources needed by our athletes, our event organizers and our provincial partners. Today's investment in these basics will pay enormously in our goal of creating a system that consistently puts our athletes on the podium, from the Nancy Greene Ski League to the Olympics.”
