ALPINE ATHLETES HIT THE BOOKS OVER SUMMER MONTHS | BC Alpine Ski Association



Thanks to a new partnership between Alpine Canada, Peters & Co., the University of Calgary, and the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary, 20 national team racers are testing a new program aimed at helping Canada's elite racers earn a quality post-secondary education while they are still training and competing at the highest level.

The new program was built with the flexibility athletes need to accommodate their training and competition schedules which require extensive travel and time away from home for most of the year, while still offering them the opportunity to earn university credits.

“Alpine Canada is committed to helping those athletes who are interested in pursuing their education achieve success in their academics as well as their athletics,” said Ken Read, President of Alpine Canada and a Canadian Alpine Ski Team alumnus who pursued his education throughout his racing career, and went on to complete an economics degree after retiring from the team.

“It was always important for me as a racer to pursue my education
