“The results are really very strong – especially for a young team. From the testing this spring they all have not only improved their levels of fitness and efficiency, but have made marked improvements in their intensity and understanding of training” said a very pleased Dave Ellis, exercise physiologist with the BC Ski Team.
“I am especially impressed with the “bump” in mental toughness and determination that all the girls demonstrated during this session of lab testing,” beamed a happy Nancy O'Neill “The girls all have really worked very hard over the summer, and are even more driven to train now that they can see positive results. This is all part of a very important learning curve as they make their way towards elite sport!”
The girls had a two day rest period after testing to prepare for their camp #4 in Nakiska.
“The conditions in Nakiska are very good for early season.” describes O'Neill, “The hill is host to both the Women's and Men's Canadian National Ski Teams and the Swiss World Cup men, as well as the Provincial Teams from Alberta and BC. The girls are enjoying the exposure to Alison Forsythe and company – the level of skiing is excellent. We will finish our camp with three days of GS. I look forward to moving the girls to Panorama where we can focus on keeping the skis a bit more in the falline, but for now our time is well spent with skiing skills on steep and changing terrain.”
