After 4 days of racing at Panorama Mountain Resort, the Mars Cup Spring Series came to a close on Tuesday. The event was a joint effort on the part of many clubs and individuals, all working together to get the task done. The race was a huge success and the weather cooperated beautifully!
With 6:00 am race office openings and lift-loading at 7:00 am, everyone worked long hours and was extremely tired when all was said and done.
We'd like to thank the Red Mountain racers and Alberta Alpine for putting together two very professional Race Organizing Committees to work away from home at Panorama Mountain Village. The races began each day right on schedule and every athlete had the benefit of an excellent track to race on. Running a race on your own hill is a feat in itself, but taking the show on the road, now that's another thing all together and you certainly rose to the occasion!
Thank you also to the many local Windermere Valley Ski Club volunteers and Panorama Ski Friends who came out and devoted countless hours during the event – and to all the volunteers who traveled from Alberta and BC who stayed through the event, waking each day in the dark to get the job done. Every race depends on many volunteers and we could not have done it without you.
Last, but not lease, a huge thank you to Panorama Mountain Village for allowing this event to move. The snow conditions were awesome and your support was unsurpassed as usual. This was truly a team effort and everyone's participation was greatly appreciated!
