Report by Alex Fell, K1 Assistant Head Coach, WMSC
From Thursday, December 1st through Sunday, December 4th, some of British Columbia's top K1 and K2 athletes gathered at Apex Mountain Resort for this season's edition of BC Alpine's Kinder B2B camp. Athletes were invited from all regions of BC to take part in this high performance training opportunity. Highly skilled coaches representing Whistler Mountain Ski Club, Sun Peaks Alpine, Mt. Washington Ski Club, and Fernie Alpine Ski Team joined forces to develop and implement four great days of training. With perfect weather, highly motivated athletes, and ample firm snow, all who participated in this camp left stronger and better for the experience. The first two were devoted to Slalom and the rest to GS training. The athletes were not just working hard on the snow! Dryland sessions and evening lectures on topics such as mental skills and nutrition were presented to the young racers. All the B2B athletes now have a better understanding of the link between the mental, physical, and nutritional aspects of training and how theses three skill-sets will, when in practice together, lead to optimal performance and attainment of one's highest goals. Thank you to BC Alpine and all who participated for making this camp possible. Have a great season!
