BC Alpine Award Winners 2006

BOB PARSONS MEMORIAL FUND: Awarded to the athlete who best illustrates dedication and leadership to ski racing and shows a need for support, priority to J1/J2 athletes. Bob Parsons was the original Weasel Worker at the Whistler World Cup. Two individuals were selected for this award and will receive $1,000.00 each.

2006 Awards Banquet - Ian Cumming from Apex wins Bob Parsons Memorial Bursary!

DAVE MURRAY BURSARY: Awarded to one or two individuals per province based on athletic ability, need, sportsmanship and leadership. Founded in 1987 by friends of Dave Murray after $80,000 was raised at a fundraiser in his name. Recipients will receive $500.
– Evan Moore (Big White Ski Club)

MANUAL OSBORNE-PARADIS "GET UP AND GO" AWARD: Awarded to two athletes whose enthusiasm and self-motivation inspire others to be the best they can be.  Recipients receive $500 each.
– Sandra MacDonald (Apex Ski Club)
– Sven Winter (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)

SKI CANADA MAGAZINE BURSARY: Awarded to a K2 athlete who shows potential to rise to the top of ski racing in Canada and shows need for financial assistance.
– Chris Campbell (Timberland)
– Brynne Benbow (Whistler)

CARY MULLEN AWARD: Awarded to the athlete who best displays sportsmanlike conduct and fair play.
– Victoria Whitney (Whistler)

BC FIS COACH OF THE YEAR: Awarded to a FIS coach with a proven capacity to improve team and/or athlete performance.
– Andrew Lambert (Okanagan Ski Team/BC Ski Team)

BC KINDER COACH OF THE YEAR: Awarded to a Club coach with a proven capacity to improve team and/or athlete performance.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD: Awarded to a volunteer who showed dedication above and beyond the normal expectations of a volunteer.
– Sam Harvey (Sun Peaks)

MOUNTAIN RESORT OF THE YEAR: Awarded to a resort that shows support and commitment to the ski club and to the sport of ski racing.

– Husky Snow Stars Festival at Sun Peaks Resort

CLUB DEVELOPMENT OF THE YEAR AWARD: Awarded to a BC Alpine club who has illustrated growth and significant improvement or leadership.
