News from the office of our Officials Chair, Bruce Holliday | BC Alpine Ski Association

At the fall Officials meeting in Vancouver, two key components will be addressed. Plans are underway to hold a day-long Race Administration/Secretary session aimed at updating participants with the intricacies of being a race secretary. The primary focus will be on hosting a FIS race – either a Regional, National, Pontiac Cup or Nor Am. The emphasis will be on becoming familiar with all the required documents, how to establish results and how to send the necessary correspondence. The seminar will be led by an individual with vast experience in this field – Thelma Hoessler from the USSA.

To assist those hosting National and Division races, there will be a "parallel" throughout the day showing how the necessary forms for National races apply and are processed. This day-long seminar is a must for those hosting FIS races, and is highly recommended for clubs hosting National and Provincial races.

The date is Sunday October 15th at the Holiday Inn, Vancouver Centre. To make the necessary arrangements, refer to the BC Alpine web page article regarding the BC Alpine Fall AGM. Stay tuned to the "E-Update" for further details and information.

Questions and preliminary registrations should be directed to Bruce Holliday at bholliday@telus.net. There will be a fee of $40.00, which will include lunch and all the necessary information. Also for your calendar, there will be a level 3 course in Kamloops. Tentative dates are October 28 & 29. For further information, contact Mark Armour at marmour@shaw.ca or Bob Cowden at rcowden@shaw.ca. Details will be posted on the "E-Update" as they are finalized.
