The BC Ski Team girls were in action again Sunday at Mont Ste. Anne, Quebec for the Super Series Giant Slalom. Weather woes continue to plague athletes and organizers, so the starts have been reduced from two GS per gender over 2 days (Sunday and Monday) to just one per gender – women on Sunday and men on Monday.
Elli Terwiel (BCDT/Sun Peaks) was not going to let a little rain and an icy track slow her down! Terwiel clocked the fastest first run time, finishing 3rd after 2 runs in a total of one minute, 49.99 seconds. It was a tight race – Terwiel was only 3 tenths away from gold and her team-mate Georgia Simmerling (Grouse Tyee) came in just 6 tenths off the winning mark to finish 6th overall in 1:50.28!
If these girls weren’t tough before, they are now…to quote a coach after Sunday’s race, "we’ve never seen athletes drain that much water out of their ski boots!"

Tuesday the men and women will travel to Bromont, Quebec for the Pontiac GMC slalom competition, then on to Mont Tremblant Friday evening for the giant slalom races over the weekend.
