The men’s BC Ski Team is in Quebec where they are not enjoying the abundance of snow we are delighting in here on the west coast. Men’s slalom was on Thursday’s Pontiac GMC Cup schedule.
The BC crew landed two guys in the top-15; Ben Thomsen (BCST/WVSC) finished 13th in a two-run time of one minute, 50.04 seconds, followed closely by team-mate and club-mate Trevor Rose (BCTG/WVSC) who took 15th spot in 1:50.21. Conrad Pridy (BCST/WMSC) was also on track for a top-15 finish after the first run, but didn’t quite hold on and closed the day 18th in 1:50.53.
Everyone agreed that the volunteers on the hill at Bromont, Quebec deserved all the praise for the job they did preparing the track for Thursday’s slalom race. After dealing with rain and a severe shortage of snow, suddenly this week temperatures dropped to well below freezing. “It’s been raining all winter in the East, so the cold was a shock to everybody,” said Johnny Davidson, race winner. “They did a great job getting the races off. The snow on the hill was impeccable – it was a World Cup caliber
course.”

Competition continues at Bromont on Friday with the women’s slalom. On the
weekend, Mont-Tremblant will host the men’s and women’s giant slalom races. Follow along with
