January 25-28, Coast Zone K2 athletes will have a chance to fulfill their “need for speed” at the 27th Annual Bob Parson’s Memorial Downhill event featuring Super G races on Saturday and Sunday on Ptarmigan at Whistler Mountain. For many young racers, this is their first opportunity to race on a speed track.
The Bob Parsons Memorial Downhill is named in memory of the late Bob Parsons who formed and led the infamous Weasel Workers and was Chief of Course for all of the major downhill races at Whistler until his death in 1979.
For volunteer opportunities, contact the Whistler Mountain Club at 604-932-4644 or Irene Whitney. Volunteering at races now will help prepare locals to qualify for volunteer positions at 2010. Get involved – ask about billet accommodation.
