Alberta Alpine Announces Retirement of President Maureen OHara-Leman | BC Alpine Ski Association

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Calgary, AB (February 16th, 2007) – Michael Irwin, Chairman of the Alberta Alpine Ski Association, on behalf of the Board of Directors, announced today the retirement of President Maureen O’Hara-Leman.

After six great years as President, Maureen has announced that she will be leaving Alberta Alpine at the conclusion of the 2006-2007 season to pursue other challenges. Her contributions will be missed although she will not be far from the sport as she will no doubt continue her volunteer efforts at races for many seasons to come.

Maureen leaves behind a strong organization that she has had tremendous influence in developing since her arrival in 2001. Participation numbers have grown in all levels of the sport from the Nancy Greene Ski League to the FIS level under her leadership.

As the costs of our sport continued to escalate so did Maureen’s commitment to find alternative funding be it from the government or private sectors. She tackled all challenges with energy and enthusiasm.

Thank you Maureen!

The Albert Alpine Board of Directors will begin a search to replace Maureen in the weeks to come. Interested individuals are asked to forward their resumes by post or electronically in confidence to:
