Britt Janyk, Canadian Giant Slalom Champion – Serwa, Terwiel in Top-15 | BC Alpine Ski Association

BC Ski Team athletes Kelsey Serwa (Big White) and Elli Terwiel (Sun Peaks) battled through two GS runs iin the rain to earn 7th and 13th spot respectively in a strong, competitive field and under challenging conditions.

Britt Janyk (CAST/WMSC) won today’s Women’s Giant Slalom race at the Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships, finishing in a two-run combined time of two minutes 27.05 seconds to win by more than two seconds. Janyk, who wins a national GS title for the fourth time in the last six years, easily handled the rainy conditions to win on her hometown race hill.

“It feels really good to win the GS because I haven’t for a few years,” said Janyk, who’s last Canadian Championships GS win came in 2004. Janyk has won national titles in all five of the alpine ski racing disciplines. “It wasn’t easy today, the conditions were not ideal but you can’t control Mother Nature so you can’t worry about it,” Janyk said.
