"2010 Acceleration Team" Adds 12 High Potential Athletes to Women’s National Team

CALGARY, AB (May 3rd, 2007) – Alpine Canada Alpin named a record 55 ski racers to the 2007/08 Canadian Team today, adding 19 dynamic young ski racers to the list of athletes who last season amassed the country’s best ever performance on the World Cup circuit.

With the 2010 Olympic Winter Games less than three years away, Alpine Canada Alpin said adding athletes is critical to creating the intense internal competition that will deliver Olympic medallists.

Among this season’s additions are 12 women — the 2010 Acceleration Team – who are considered high potential athletes that will focus on gaining experience against tough international competition. Funding from the federal government’s “Own the Podium” program and from increased resources generated by ACA enabled the increase, making the Canadian team comparable in size to other world-leading ski racing nations.
