Giant Win for Pridy – BC Ski Team dominates Super G Podium at Apex BC Cup | BC Alpine Ski Association

Glowczynski, MacDonald, Leduc in the Medals

Clear blue skies and minus 6 in the sun, does it get any better? How about the prefect course set by Big White Coach Derek Trussler! From all accounts, Thursday’s super G course was simply brilliant. Whether it was your best day or not, you had to agree it was FUN, challenging (but not impossible) and a thrill of a ride!

American racer Brooke Wales found the fastest line to the finish and won the race in one minute, 20.49 seconds. BC Ski Team women came out strong, claiming silver and bronze medal positions. Wictoria Glowczynski (Sun Peaks Alpine Club) stopped the clock at 1:20.69, just 2 tenths off the winning time and good enough for silver. “I’m actually enjoying speed and I’m finally getting the hang of it,” declared Vic. “It felt like a solid run, but I know I could do a lot more to fix it up, so I’m feeling very optimistic about the second super G tomorrow.”

Local favourite Sandra MacDonald (BC Ski Team/Apex Ski Club) did not disappoint the hometown crowd! MacDonald clocked the third fastest run of the day and took the bronze medal in 1:21.65.

It’s not the biggest race, but winning does a lot for your confidence. I’ll try to do the same thing again tomorrow.”

Pridy was joined on the podium by team mate Matt Leduc (Mt. Washington Ski Club) who finished third in 1:17.50. “I’ve been close a few times lately, so I just decided to give it a little more today and it paid off,” said Leduc. “I’m usually stronger in slalom, but today was fun. The course had lots of nice round turns and flowed really well.”
