Teck Invests in BC Ski Racers

BC Alpine Ski Association Welcomes Teck as a Major Sponsor of Alpine Skiing

VANCOUVER, BC – The BC Alpine Ski Association is pleased to announce that Teck has signed on as a major sponsor of alpine ski racing in British Columbia.  Teck’s significant contributions over the next four years will have far-reaching and long-lasting effects on the development of ski racers in communities throughout BC.

As title sponsor of the Teck Juvenile Alpine Race Series, a provincial program for 11 to 14 year old athletes from across the province, the company will play a large role in the success of 48 race events hosted by BC Ski Clubs between December and April each year.

Bruce Goldsmid, CEO of BC Alpine, says that this kind of corporate support is a key component of ski racing programs.  “This financial commitment from Teck not only helps our top ski racers reach their goals, but it allows us to provide more affordable programs for every developing athlete in the province."

“We are proud of our association with the BC Alpine Ski Association and the opportunity to help develop Canadian champions.  Young people from communities and towns across British Columbia who pursue their athletic dreams are living the virtues of dedication, commitment and pursuit of excellence that we at Teck value,” said Doug Horswill, Senior Vice President, Sustainability and External Affairs for Teck.
