Call Out For Volunteers at K2 Canadian Championships, Silver Star Resort - BC Alpine Ski Association

Message from Sheryl Bolton, Volunteer Coordinator for the Vernon Ski Club

We are in need of as many volunteers as possible for the K2 Canadian Championships which we are hosting March 30th to April 3rd, 2009 at Silver Star Mountain Resort, Vernon, BC.

In less than two weeks the Vernon Ski Club will once again host the President’s Choice Canadian K2 Nationals. Over 170 racers from across Canada will descend on Silver Star for this race which includes events in Super G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super Combined. In order to make this event happen the Vernon Ski Club needs numerous volunteers in various positions during the race, including course work and gate judges as well as various administrative tasks that need to be completed – no previous experience necessary.

The five day race starts Monday, March 30th, 2009 and goes through to Friday, April 3rd, 2009. Volunteers are asked to arrive at the club cabin each day for instructions by 7:30 am for Course-workers / 8:00 am for Gate-judges.

Complimentary lift tickets and lunches will be provided each day at the Club Cabin.

A light breakfast will be provided in the morning at the club cabin, and Bean to Cup Coffee shop and Bake House will also be open at 6:00 AM in the Village if you require something more substantial!

We appreciate all of our volunteers! Join us for an informal meet and greet, daily, after the races at the Vernon Ski Club Cabin. Appetizers and beverages will be served courtesy of President’s Choice. Gifts for all of our volunteers will also be available. Thank-you for your help!

In addition to the informal meet and greet, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 President’s Choice will host a Volunteer Reception at The Den located in the village at Silver Star. Volunteers will enjoy a selection of appetizers, beverages, and entertainment.
