BC Alpine Athletic Director Job Description
The BC Alpine Athletic Director (AD) provides the technical direction and program design of BC Alpine. Reporting to the CEO, the Athletic Director’s main focus is to help BC Alpine be a leader in performance programs with concentration on the Kinder and Junior programs.
The AD is a club/coach resource and primarily works with the club coaches to provide service for their continued improvement. This position includes a broad range of tasks including: planning, program design, coaching development ,education, club communication, and implementation of our athletic plan.
Duties are as follows:
Performance
1. Monitor club and zone programs recommending change in BC to make BCA programs the best in Canada;
2. Act as a facilitator to club coaches for programs and competitive system to steer BCA programs towards continuous improvement;
3. Promote and implement AIM2 in conjunction with our Development Director and help the club coaches to do the same;
4. Coordinate summer and fall BC Alpine program;
5. Coordinate the dryland testing protocols and data collection;
6. Coordinate the on snow and technical direction of Provincial Kinder/Junior program;
7. Act as facilitator for the BC Games and Canada Games in conjunction with the Development Director;
8. Work with BCST coaches to built continuity in the Provincial programs;
9. Extensive planning and implementation to facilitate an integrated program with the clubs and BCST;
10. Coordinate the provincial programs with educational needs of BCA athletes.
11. Oversee BCST and manage staff
12. Liaise with the ACA to provide feedback and program modification for BC
13. Coordinate and liaise with the Provincial Coaches Council (PCC)
14. Create strategic athletic plans
Program Delivery
1. Help in developing an annual competition calendar following AIM2;
2. Ensure a coordinated effort with club coaches in the province;
3. Monitor participation and satisfaction in BCA programs;
4. Coordinate all entries and calendar
5. Identify best practices in clubs and communicate to all coaches;
6. Manage Development Director to organize and implement coaching certification and coach education which include delivery of Level I CSCF, integrated activities with the CSCF and Entry Level Academies
7. coordinate the professional development seminars bi- annually;
8. Ensure a coordinated effort is maintained with the BC club and Provincial Coaches Council with clubs on coaching development, hiring, education and other best practices nationally;
