Congratulations to the J1 men and women who earned their spot on Team BC and will be flying off to the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia (February 11 to 27). The Alpine events will take place at Ski Wentworth during the second week of the Games and will feature slalom, giant slalom and super combined competitions.

Alpine skiing has been part of the Canada Games since the first Canada Winter Games in 1967 in Quebec City, with the exception of the 1991 Games in PEI. Competing at the Canada Winter Games is a rare opportunity for these athletes. Not only will they represent their province at a prestigious event, but it is one of only a handful of chances they will have in their ski racing careers to mix and mingle with athletes and coaches from different sports – and in a very unique location so far from home.These races are not for points or selection. They are simply a head-to-head competition with other provinces with the goal of coming out on top. We wish them all the best of luck!
