BC Team’s Pridy and Freeman are oh-so-close in Tuesday’s Nor-Am Cup DH | BC Alpine Ski Association

Aspen Nor-Am Cup Downhill
February 15, 2011

Can you say one hundredth of a second? That’s exactly how much time separated Sarah Freeman (Fernie Alpine Ski Team) from a podium finish in today’s Nor-Am downhill race in Aspen.

Freeman, who was third in yesterday’s race, finished in one minute, 44.59 seconds, coming fourth behind Tess Davies of Alberta (Banff Alpine Racers) who grabbed third spot in 1:44.58.

But this is a good news story! It takes a pretty special friend and a confident, young athlete to put such a positive spin on the day.

“I’m not frustrated, Freeman said. “I’m actually happy for the girl who beat me. Tess is a friend and she was due for a good result. She’s had a couple of hard crashes lately and hasn’t finished a downhill in a while, so I’m pretty stoked to see her on the podium."

The race was won handily by Julia Ford of the USA in 1:42.78 and second place went to Victoria Stevens of Quebec with a time of 1:44.33.

In the men’s race, it would look a lot like yesterday with another fourth place finish for BC Ski Team’s Conrad Pridy (Whistler Mountain Ski Club). Pridy is pleased with the consistency in his skiing and will look for his turn on the podium on Wednesday.  He finished today’s race in 1:39.94 behind third place Thomas Biesemeyer (1:39.64), second place Erik Fisher (1:39.55) and winner Dustin Cook (1:39.28).
