BC Ski Team's Dominic Unterberger (Revelstoke Ski Club) stood on the top step of the slalom podium Sunday after winning the second run and clocking a combined time of one minute, 34.15 seconds. Head Coach Johnny Crichton asked him about his race – hear that interview HERE. Teammate Max Peiffer (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) took his spot on the U18 podium in third position 1:40.99.

Stephanie Gartner (Fernie Alpine Ski Team), also a member of the BC Ski Team, skied two solid runs to grab second place overall in the women's slalom in 1:38.42. Fellow BC Team-er Stefanie Fleckenstein (WMSC) was the top U18 for the second consecutive day finishing 5th overall, and teammate Antonia Wearmouth was close behind in 6th, taking 2nd place on the U18 podium. Unterberger, Fleckenstein 3rd overall at Mt. Norquay Keurig Cup Slalom

Keurig Cup racing got underway this weekend in Alberta at Mt. Norquay, with men's and ladies' slalom on the agenda both Saturday and Sunday. BC athletes show early season strength Saturday as BC Ski Team members Stefanie Fleckenstein (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) and Dominic Unterberger (Revelstoke Ski Club) each step onto the podium in third place overall. Fleckenstein, who posted the fastest 2nd run time in Saturday's slalom, also stood atop the U18 podium, and was joined by teammate Antonia Wearmouth (Grouse Tyee Ski Club) in 2nd position. Riley Seger, also of the BC Ski Team (WMSC) took earned  2nd place U18 honours in the men's race. Watch Sunday's slalom action on LIVE TIMING.

ACA partners with ski resorts, BC’s Cypress Mtn., for first National Ski Day

JOIN US FOR A DAY OF SKIING ON NATIONAL SKI DAY – DECEMBER 6TH, 2014 – $10 LIFT TICKETS
 

Alpine Canada has taken on the task to engage Canadians to get involved with the sport of skiing. Whether you are a past or new skier, Alpine Canada is providing the opportunity to get out and to get active, while trying something new. Alpine Canada has partnered with four resorts across the country, all within 90 minutes of a major city centre (Cypress Mountain in BC). Each resort will be offering a discounted ticket price for National Ski Day! Print the voucher and bring it with you to the hill. Vouchers will not be available at the resorts.

Come out & volunteer at Sun Peaks, 1st Teck Open Series race of the season

The Sun Peaks Alpine Club is hosting the Teck Open Series in mid December 2014 and we are currently looking for volunteers to help at the race. We will provide you with lunch and a lift pass when you volunteer.
 

Race Dates: 

Friday December 12th – GS racing

Saturday December 13th – SL racing

Sunday December 14th – SL racing


Volunteer areas:

Hand Timers: needed for Sunday only

Gate Judges: needed all 3 days of racing. Great job to watch the race

Course Workers: please note that this role is more than just slipping the course – we need you to be comfortable with rakes, shovels, slipping, course familiarity, and able to commit to the full race day in all weather conditions (7:30 am start)

Whether you can volunteer 1 day, 2 days or all 3, we would greatly appreciate the help!

The Canadian Ski Council’s Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass is now available online

Are your kids getting the most out of winter?

Keep your kids active this winter with skiing & snowboarding at over 

150+ ski areas    

One of Canada's easiest ways to get kids healthy and active this winter is now available.  The Canadian Ski Council's Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass is available online and is an unbeatable offer: skiing and snowboarding for kids (in grade 4 or 5), three times at each of the 150+ ski areas, for only $29.95.

SnowPass Advantage: "Introducing children to skiing and snowboarding at an early age gives them lifetime access to these healthy winter sports," says Patrick Arkeveld, President and CEO of the Canadian Ski Council. "It keeps them away from electronics and gets them off the couch where they can be outside and active during the winter months. Better yet, skiing and snowboarding are sports kids can do with the whole family for a lifetime."

How It Works: The Canadian Ski Council's SnowPass provides children in grades 4 and 5 (or born in 2004 or 2005) with three lift passes for each participating ski area, providing them with an opportunity to ski or snowboard hundreds of times over the winter season.

Applying is Easy: To sign up for your very own SnowPass, visit www.snowpass.ca (or www.passeportdesneiges.ca) for French speaking applicants), where you'll be able to upload your child's picture, proof of age, and pay the $29.95 administration fee. If you'd prefer to mail in your application, we have a printed option as well. Just make sure to fill out the form and mail it to the Canadian Ski Council, along with a photo, proof of age, and a cheque payment. SnowPasses will be mailed in late November, in time for the December 1st SnowPass start date. SnowPass applications were also distributed to most Canadian elementary schools.

Where it Works:  The Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass is a national program and is valid at over 150 ski areas across Canada, including 31 ski areas in British Columbia, 19 in Alberta, 1 in Saskatchewan, 2 in Manitoba, 32 in Ontario, 57 in Quebec, 8 in Atlantic Canada, and 1 in the Yukon.
