The first day of competition at the 2018 BC Winter Games at Sun Peaks was a huge success, as 121 young racers tackled the slalom course for a two-run combined time. Conditions on the hill were perfect and they didn't let the chilly temperatures slow them down!

Thank you to Sun Peaks Resort and all the hardworking volunteers and coaches for making things safe, fair and fun for everyone. Congratulations to all the competitors and good luck in Saturday's giant slalom! Follow all the action on LIVE TIMING and https://www.facebook.com/BCGamesSociety/

BC Games Update: Day 1 is all about just being there…and the Opening Ceremony

The first day at the BC Winter Games is always exciting! Athletes are rolling in, getting accreditated and beginning their first experience at a major multi-sport event. The 2018 BC Games are extra special because they are happening at the same time as the Olympic Winter Games. This makes it feel that much more real for the competitors and coaches! Of course the scale is smaller, but so are the athletes…and the provincial games are where most of our olympic athletes got their start.

Elli Terwiel, Olympian and one of Canada's top former technical female athletes was on hand to inspire the next generation of young ski racers by sharing her experiences of rising to the top in her sport. Then came the thrill of the Opening Ceremonies with so much excitement and anticipation in the air!

Competition begins Friday – all athletes will be competing for slalom glory at Sun Peaks Resort. Follow all the action on LIVE TIMING!
