Lustenberger, in her only her second downhill race in many years fought to get to the bottom, but soon after her stellar third interval time, she lost the battle and crashed. She was fourth after the third interval. Bruised and sore, but okay, head coach Nancy Jo O'Neill is deciding whether or not to enter her in Monday's super-G race. Coaches on hill commenting on Christina's run had this to say, “she was amazing in the upper turns.” and O'Neill was equally pleased, “Lusti performed well above expectation considering her limited experience and runs in downhill. Aspen has been a great experience for all the BC girls and I am exremely pleased with the improvements made here.”

Quebec's Sophie Splawinski who was in the hunt for a podium finish crash through the last gate and slid through the finish to land in 24th spot.

Other BC Athletes:
Alison Leighton, WMSC 38th 1:24.58
Charlotte Whitney, WMSC 24th 1:24.89
Anastasia Skyrabina, WMSC 44th 1:25.28
Rachel Nixon, VST, 57th 1:26.41

Wind was a huge factor is the race as was light visibility as the entire field of athletes struggled with inconsistent and strong gusts up-hill. Today's race was a gamble for all those entered as the start was delayed 90 minues for fresh snow removal and high winds.

Women's super-G action starts Monday and runs through Tuesday in Aspen, CO.
