McDougall Silver in Women's Downhill | BC Alpine Ski Association

BC Development Teamer Stephanie McDougall took second spot in Thursday's women's downhill at Apex finishing in 1:22.91. While it wasn't fast enough to catch Alberta's Yota Lambropoulos who won by a solid margin clocking 1:20.12 it was a solid second place finish for the Whistler racer.

Other Development team athletes in the top-10 were Kayla Benbow of Whistler in 1:23.52 in fifth and Alexandra McLean of Whistler in 1:24.15 in seventh.

Prince George's Sean Cochrane, coming off a hamstring injury that occurred in St. Moritz in January, captured the men's downhill win Thursday at Apex. Cochrane took the gold clocking 1:17.68. Aaron Civitarese of Trail, a four-year BC team member was second in 1:18.03 and Brian Bennett of Quesnel, held onto his lead of the overall Pontiac GMC Cup points with third spot in 1:18.07.

“I was definitely happy with the win,” said Cochrane, “I cleaned up some of the mistakes that I made earlier in the week and that seemed to work.” Civitarese, the overall Pontiac GMC Cup champion in 2001 was not pleased with his second place finish. “It was a tough day for me, the light was flat and I made a lot of mistakes,” Civitarese said. “I just tried to hang on.” Whistler racer Jamie Finlayson was fifth in 1:18.55.
