In a surprising twist of events, Quebec's Genivieve Simard and Nanaimo's Allison Forsyth swapped places after the second run giving Simard the win in 1:28.25 in Friday's Pontiac GMC Cup National Championships Women's Slalom. After the first run Forsyth was 1st and Simard 3rd. However, at the end of the day, Forsyth had to settle for third place in 1:29.13 behind Whistler's Britt Janyk who fought hard and held on to second place in a two-run combined time of 1:29.09. Complete results will be posted as they become available. Race organizers hope to get a downhill training run Saturday, weather permitting. A men's and women's super g will be run in the event of a downhill training cancellation tomorrow.
