Manuel Osborne Paradis and Robbie Dixon landed squarely in the top-20 Saturday in the men's Nor-Am downhill in Lake Louise, AB.
Deep Cove's Osborne Paradis, a three year veteran of the BC Ski Team, was ninth Saturday in 1:34.79 in the men's downhill; where a mere 1.68 seconds separated first from 10th. It was a Canadian sweep for the race's top juniors, as New Richmond, Que. native Francois Bourque, Manuel Osborne-Paradis of North Vancouver, B.C., and Calgary's Gareth Sine placed 1-2-3 among the juniors competing on Saturday.
North Vancouver's Robbie Dixon, in his second year on the men's squad, starting down the field in 39th came up big and was 19th in one minute 35.87 seconds. Also of North Vancouver, BC team rookie Marcus Waring, starting 53rd, had a strong race finishing in the top-30 in 26th in one minute 36.29 seconds.
Former BC Ski Team and current alumni, Sean Cochrane of the Sun Peaks Alpine Club and FIS team was 17th in 1:35.36.
CIBC Coupe Nor -Am Cup racing action wraps up Monday and Tuesday in Lake Louise with the men's super-G.
On the women's side, Fernie native and BC Ski Team rookie Danielle Poleschuk took home two top-15 results over the weekend as the CIBC Coupe Nor-Am Cup wrapped up women's downhill competition Sunday in Lake Louise, AB.
Poleschuk, 16, with an undesirably high bib 34 came on strong to finish 14th in one minute 41.30 seconds on the men's Olympic downhill course in Lake Louise Saturday. Poleschuk was one of seven Canadians in the top-15.
Starting in 33rd for Sunday's downhill, Poleschuk tore up the course to finish amoung eight fellow Canadians in one minute 42.13 seconds for 15th spot.
