Slalom win extends Grandi's lead as most-winning Canadian man at nationals - BC Alpine Ski Association



“It good to have your place in the history books,” said Grandi after posting a total time of one minute, 46.28 after the two slalom runs. Jungle Jim Hunter, the original Crazy Canuck, is second to Grandi, with eight national titles. “It's always fun for me to race here, and it's important for me to ski fast to show the younger guys and be an example.”

Grandi, a 10-year veteran of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, finished with a lead of 1.75 seconds on second-place finisher Brad Spence, of Calgary.

An overnight snowfall caused a delay in Thursday's men's slalom start as crews worked diligently to prepare the course.
