Guay, 21, of Tremblant, Que., crossed the finish in a leg-burning one minute, 31.97 to lead the field of Canada's best and up-and-coming alpine ski racers.

“It's definitely satisfying,” said Guay, who said he's aware that there's a strong group of guys who are challenging for the top spot. “It's a bit of a mental test. Once you're on top, it's difficult to stay there. Everyone wants your spot, so to have stayed on top is great.”
