Brigitte Acton was the top placing Canadian at the Europa Cup ladies downhill, finishing just outside the top 10 in 11th place.
Her final time was 1 minute and 26.28 seconds, just two one-hundredths off the tenth place spot filled by Austria's Daniela Mueller.
Next in line for a top Canadian result was Whistler's Christina Risler, who skied into the 23rd spot for the day. Not too far behind her was Alberta Ski Team member Jessica Dakers, coming in at 46th.
The rest of the Canadian group finished as follows: Sophie Splawinski took the 50th spot while the Alberta Ski Team's Emily Hamill placed 52nd. Danielle Poleschuk of Fernie and the BC Ski Team placed 63rd and Sherry Lawrence did not finish.
For the men' s side, lone Canadian Sean Cochrane was the only racer to compete at the men's downhill Europa Cup event at Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Austria. The Prince George racer finished 55th.
Europa Cup action continues for both men and women for the next few days. Tomorrow, both groups will compete in a second downhill race, and on January 23, the men and women will compete in a super-g.
