Canada's female speedsters took advantage of the perfect, sunny conditions that greeted the 50 competitors who took part in Friday's women's World Cup downhill at Haus im Ennstal, Austria.
Fernie, BC's Emily Brydon led the Canucks, finishing 14th with a time of one minute, 41.07 seconds. The result left Brydon .20 seconds outside the top-10, but moved her into the top seed of the overall women's World Cup downhill rankings, at 11th.
“It's really a great moment for Emily and the team to see her move into the top seed,” said women's speed discipline coach Piotr Jelen.
Brydon has had a tremendous season in World Cup speed events, finishing no worse than 25th, and narrowly missing the podium at Lake Louise where she finished fourth.
