The Canadian men were within a second of sweeping the podium at Lake Louise Tuesday, but are happy with their 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes. This strong, tight field of Canadian racers proves that the team as a whole is competitive and they continually push each other to be better.
“It is great to see the team driving each other to win, ” said Development Team coach Brian Rishworth. ” It could be anybody's race any day, and today's results prove we have the determination and skill to be the best”.
American Jakub Fiala was third in Monday's downhill, but stepped up to the Canadian challenge on Tuesday and finished first in one minute, 27.95 seconds.
North Vancouver's Manuel Osborne-Paradis came in 2nd with a time of one minute, 28.53 seconds and says Jakub Fiala had a terrific run.
“Fiala over-skied us all and had a lot more speed on the flats than I did. My goal was top-3, so I am happy with my result today and I will follow through tomorrow with the same plan,” reported Manuel. Manuel took home gold in yesterday's Nor-Am downhill.
Rossland's David Anderson and yesterday's Junior Champ, Stephan Guay, both failed to finish their runs today.
The men will conclude the CIBC Coupe Nor-Am Cup Wednesday at Lake Louise with a final super-G race.
