Red Mountain Racers hosted a speed camp and two Super G races for K2 and J1 athletes from the Okanagan and Kootenay Zones January 21-23. Poor weather forced the cancellation of the first two days of the camp, but Mother Nature and volunteer determination combined to allow a training run and race to be completed on Saturday, and a final race on Sunday.
Sasha Zaitsoff of the Red Mountain Racers won both races in the K2 category, plus the overall on Saturday. Gerry Whittaker (Masters Racer) of Big White was the overall winner on Sunday. In the J1 men's category, Nick May of Australia was the victor on Saturday and Dane Tudor-Olds placed first on Sunday.
Big White racers swept the K2 women's races, with Kasey Perrier winning on Saturday and Brittney Jones on Sunday. Alison Worsfold of Red Mountain Racers won both races in the J1 category.
