The second Mt. Hood training camp of the 2005 summer season for the Men's BC Team concluded on a positive note. The weather for all five days was excellent and with freezing temperatures overnight, snow conditions remained good for the duration of the camp. There were very few other teams booked to train over the same time period, so lift lines were not an issue at all! The athletes were consistently able to ski 6 to 8 runs per hour, resulting in high volume training, which was the goal for this camp. It was a short but very effective camp for all who attended.
The team headed back to Canada on Sunday, and after a short break on Monday, jumped straight into a dryland camp in Whistler Tuesday morning. Dave Ellis, Director of Sport Science for Alpine Canada traveled from Calgary to join the group and conduct a 4 day fitness camp with the help of Coach Dale Stephens. Dave will familiarize the athletes with the workout programs they will be doing for the next six weeks and there are plans to spice things up by taking part in some of the fun activities that Whistler is known for, such as Mountain Biking Hiking and White Water Rafting. The Whistler camp wraps up on Friday.
