CANADIAN WORLD CUP ROOKIE SHONA RUBENS 15th IN LAKE LOUISE WORLD CUP DOWNHILL - BC Alpine Ski Association

While the men were still celebrating Erik Guay's 2nd place finish in the Beaver Creek super-G yesterday; the season's first medal for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, the women took to the track for the first World Cup speed race of the season.

Native Calgarian, now residing in Canmore, Alberta, Shona Rubens stole the show today when she finished in 15th place, 1:50.76, in only her 2nd World Cup race and first World Cup downhill competition. Rubens surprised the crowd when she was 58th to leave the starting gate but quickly moved up the ranks to place amongst World Cup super stars like Janica Kostelic (12th) and Renate Goetschl (17th).
