Guay 6th, Bourque 13th in World Cup Downhill, Colorado | BC Alpine Ski Association

Erik Guay kept his focus and ignored tough conditions Friday for the second consecutive day to place sixth in the men's downhill on the steep and relentless Birds of Prey course. Daron Rahlves and Bode Miller made it another 1-2 sweep for the Americans on home turf this year, a tall order in a race that was repeatedly interrupted by incoming fog and wind. “It was hard to get focused,” Guay said. “They kept interrupting the race every couple of racers. In the start gate I was told five seconds then they grabbed me and told me the race was stopped. I had to refocus, regroup. It was a big challenge for me. But once I was on the course it was fine. The crowd was great.”
