The Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup is one of only five international alpine ski racing events for athletes 11 to 14 years of age (K1 & K2), and the only one held in North America. The world's best young skiers, their coaches and families have converged on Whistler Village for the three-day event beginning Friday. They number 390 racers and represent 20 nations. Many World Cup champions began their international racing careers at the Whistler Cup, including Benjamin Raich, Tina Maze and Anja Paerson. Some Canadian Whistler Cup alumni include Erik Guay, Britt Janyk, Jeff Hume, Allison Forsyth, Emily Brydon, Manuel Osborne-Paradis and Christina Lustenberger.
