Kinder Athletes Experience Camp Green at Farnham Glacier | BC Alpine Ski Association

As BC Alpine’s new Program Director, Arne Lund’s first on-snow assignment was to accompany a select group of K1 and K2 athletes and coaches to Camp Green on Farnham Glacier (60 km SW of Radium, BC). The facility, the kids and the coaching staff all received top marks! Here’s what Arne had to say:

“What a great camp! Farnham is definitely a unique experience for everyone involved. It feels very different to be so isolated – not a town or a shop anywhere to be found! Our qualified coaches, along with the friendly support staff from Camp Green, made for some fun and valuable training. The glacier staff consists of cooks to serve nourishing meals, groomers to tow the racers to the top of the groomed runs and safety officers working around the clock checking for crevasses and changes in the weather.

Finding this caliber of terrain during the summer months usually means traveling to South America or Europe. Having the opportunity to train on-snow, at home, at this time of year is a huge benefit to our athletes and keeps the costs of summer training way down!

The athletes worked hard and everyone pushed their on-hill skill development to a new level. Congratulations to the kids and coaches on a successful Camp Green experience!"
