‘Golden Girls’ charm friends of Alpine Skiing at Pontiac GMC Peak to Peak | BC Alpine Ski Association

Karrin Lee-Gartner shows her 1992 Albertville Olympic Gold Medal at the 2006 Peak to Peak fundraising dinnerIt’s not often that the four Canadian Olympic gold medalists, Anne Heggtveit, Nancy Greene Raine, Karrin Lee-Gartner and Kathy Kreiner-Phillips, find themselves together in one room. Canada’s “Golden Girls” re-united this week as BC Alpine and Alpine Canada Alpin hosted their annual fundraising dinner and auction at the elegant Macaroni Grill in downtown Vancouver.

Members of the current Canadian Alpine Ski Team were also on hand to greet the 250 guests who enjoyed an intimate evening of dining, mingling and bidding on an incredible line-up of auction items that included everything from heli-skiing and salmon fishing on the same day, to a Bobby Orr autographed Team Canada hockey jersey.

We would like to thank everyone who attended or in some way contributed to the success of the event for helping kick-start the ski season in style – especially Wayne Holm, chair of the organizing committee and his enthusiastic group of volunteers.  This year’s Pontiac GMC “Peak to Peak” will be remembered as the most successful fundraising initiative to date in BC. We’re already looking forward to next year’s party! Proceeds will be used to support BC athletes and their dreams of reaching their Peak in 2010 and beyond.  PHOTOS AND This is a link to a web page. SLIDE SHOW COURTESY OF ROBERT KWONG
