Conditions worsen, racers and volunteers press on at Mt. St. Anne Nor Ams | BC Alpine Ski Association

Friday’s conditions were extremely tough for the Mont Sainte Anne slalom.  It was raining to the top of the mountain and visibility was hampered by a blanket of fog that hovered most of the day.  Soft snow meant increasing deterioration of the track with each racer through the course.  "Start number was everything today", exclaimed coach Nancy O’Neill.

Considering the challenges, O’Neill was proud of all four girls (Leighton, Serwa, Simmerling and Terwiel) for qualifying for a second run. (At a Nor Am race, only the top 60 finishers in run #1 are given a second run.)  They fought hard to finish – no one from BC was showing any signs of giving up!

Another slalom is on the schedule for Saturday
