The Women’s BC Ski Team took quite a hit when Victoria Whitney (WMSC) suffered a season-ending knee injury during a training camp in Portillo, Chile last week. We are pleased to report that Monday’s surgery to repair Toria’s ACL was successful and the patient is resting quietly at home. This determined young athlete plans to be back in the game as soon as possible, but promises to follow doctor’s orders for recovery and rehabilitation.
"I was disappointed when I realized I wasn’t going to be able to race this season because I’ve had such a great summer of training and was really excited about the season", Toria told us Tuesday morning. "It’s not all bad though – I’ll be able to spend a lot more time at school this year, which is good, and I know my knee will be as good as new before next season. I’m looking forward to starting physio next week and cheering for my teammates from the sidelines until I am ready to race again!"
Everyone at BC Alpine would like to thank Orthopedic surgeon Dr. McConkey (Whistler/Squamish) for taking good care of Victoria. We wish Toria a very speedy recovery! Her eternally positive, ‘never quit’ attitude is an inspiration to all who know her!
