Summer Dryland Training Kicks Into High Gear For Provincial Team Athletes - BC Alpine Ski Association

The BC Ski Team has just completed the first of several intensive dryland camps in Whistler under the direction of Exercise Physiologist Cindy Thompson (Pacific Sport).

Attending the 5-day camp were provincial team athletes Conrad Pridy (Whistler Mountain Ski Club), Morgan Pridy (WMSC), Ian Morrison (WMSC), Tyler Werry (Fernie Alpine Ski Team), Chris Campbell (Timberland Ski Club) and Toria Whitney (WMSC). J1 Development Group member Sarah Elliot (Big White Racers), who is recovering from knee surgery, was also in attendance. BC Team invitee Curtis Koepke (Big White Racers) came along as well to experience dryland training at its most intense.

BC Team’s Sasha Zaitsoff (Red Mountain Racers) and Mathieu Leduc (Mt. Washington Ski Club) were not able to attend due to high school graduation responsibilities. Several “guest” appearances were made by BC Ski Team alumnus Stan Rey (WMSC), who is sporting a brand new cast on his foot!

This camp included implementation of new fitness programs for all the athletes, individual assessments, Olympic and classical lifting techniques, yoga, trail runs as well as exhaustive agility and flexibility sessions. In addition, the athletes attended educational components, one of which incorporated valuable information on nutrition and even a team “cook – off”.

BC Team Coaches Chris Mosaed and Nancy O’Neill were both on hand to assist with the camp and are excited to see the 08/09 season underway and off to such a great start!

Thank you to the families who opened their doors and provided "home-away-from-home" comforts to the exhausted, hard-working athletes!
