BC Takes Points Lead Early In Western K2 Gold Cup Competition at Nakiska | BC Alpine Ski Association

The top 30 K2 athletes from Alberta and BC kicked off day one of the 2009 Gold Cup event Tuesday with a Super G competition. 

The girls’ race was won by Kailee Darlington of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, with Logan Thackray of the Banff Alpine Racers in second and Kaylie Higgs, also of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, picking up the bronze medal. 

The boys’ race saw Broderick Thompson of Whistler Mountain Ski Club take Gold, with Tony Naciuk of the Edmonton Ski Club and Spencer Curran of Grouse Tyee taking the silver and bronze respectively.  

BC has taken the early lead in the team competition with 783 points while Alberta athletes earned 653 points. The races continue with the GS on Wednesday and conclude Thursday with the slalom competition.
