"Love was definitely in the air on Valentine’s Day at Mount Washington Alpine Resort.
The Mt. Washington Ski Club chose Feb. 14 to host a “For the Love of Skiing” banquet, a tribute to Allison Forsyth’s journey from Mt. Washington to the World Cup circuit. The resort used the occasion to name a ski run in honour of the Nanaimo giant slalom specialist, and her boyfriend trumped them all by proposing marriage.
For the record, Forsyth was delighted when Peter Gibson of Mount Washington resort announced that future races will be run on the Allison Forsyth GS Course, gladly accepted Steve’s proposal, and called Saturday night one of the highlights of her life.
“It’s just so great to come home,” Forsyth said. “I mean I spent every weekend of my life up here on Mount Washington and I just think it’s the most amazing ski resort and the most amazing club and beyond that the most amazing family environment to raise your children.”
