VANCOUVER SPORT PSYCHOLOGY CONSULTANT EARNS CERTIFICATION
MADISON, WI – August 2009 – Lauren Jones, a resident of Vancouver, B.C., Canada., recently earned the distinction of Certified Consultant by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the professional organization of sport and exercise psychology.
Jones works as a mental performance consultant for the men’s and women’s B.C. Alpine Ski Team. In September, she will begin a post-doctoral position, working as a counselor at the University of British Columbia’s Counseling Services. She specializes in mental imagery. Jones has competed as an Alpine ski racer and enjoys recreational skiing, running and yoga.
Jones received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and her M.Ed. in Sport Psychology from Boston University. She also has an Ed.D in counseling psychology with a sport psychology specialization from Boston University.
A growing number of applied sport and exercise psychology professionals are certified by the AASP. The professionals who earn the designation Certified Consultant, AASP, have met a high standard of education and training in the sport sciences and in psychology. They also have undergone an extensive review process.
The Association for Applied Sport Psychology promotes the ethical practice, science and advocacy of sport and exercise psychology. Founded in 1986, AASP is an international, multidisciplinary, professional organization that offers certification to qualified professionals who practice sport and exercise psychology.
