Mike Janyk shines in World Cup Night Slalom – best 2nd run for 6th over all | BC Alpine Ski Association

Congratulations Mike!

ZAGREB, CRO (January 6, 2010) – A brilliant second run lifted Michael Janyk (Whistler, BC) to sixth place in a wildly entertaining World Cup night slalom in Zagreb, CRO today.

The race can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet at 7 p.m. in the Eastern and Ontario viewing areas. It’s on at 4:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Western and Pacific areas respectively.

Janyk, who sat 16th after the first run on the Crveni Spust piste, finished in a two-run combined time of one minutes 50.85 seconds.

"In the first run I was a little mad at myself for making some mistakes that I shouldn’t have. I laid it all completely on the line in the second run and ended up with the best time, and that’s still making a pretty huge mistake," Janyk said. "So I am pretty satisfied with the result but mostly just it makes you hungry for the next race, that’s for sure."  (from Alpine Canada Alpin news)
