After what she called a "really bad" first run, Celine Rytz (BCST/FAST) wasn’t about to give up on her best event. She approached the second run with a "nothing to lose" attitude and won it handily, earning the silver medal in Monday’s slalom race at the Lake Louise Miele Cup.
"That first run just motivated me to really go for it in the second", said Rytz. "I owe it all to the extra 4 or 5 days of training we got in Quebec when the races we traveled to were cancelled. We didn’t waste any time, we trained hard and I think it really improved my skiing and my confidence."
Once again, Jocelyn Ramsden (BCST/WMSC) earned a piece of hardware as the third fastest J1 racer of the day.
"It was the warmest I’ve ever seen it at Lake Louise today – it felt a bit like Whistler", said Ramsden. "I came to this event hoping to be really strong, but I suffered a bit of a set-back in the first race. I slid on my hip and in an effort to recover, I pulled a muscle in my quadriceps. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to ski, but with a lot of ice and rest at night, it seems to be doing okay."
