BC Team Ladies Reflect on their Apex GMC DH & SG Experiences So Far | BC Alpine Ski Association

CELINE RYTZ
"On the last training day, Elyse Timoshenko and I were stuck in the start gate for 3 hours due to course holds from fog. It was more annoying than distracting and I had to make sure that it didn’t negatively affect me."

"My first downhill run was very bad but my second run was much more challenging and I actually scared myself. This made it that much sweeter to get the gold. The course was a lot rougher because the girls skied twice and the guys skied once. It was much more challenging."

ALECIA WILLIS
"I was lucky to be one of the few racers able to run the downhill before the weather deteriorated. However, when training slalom after my run the ‘plan for the day’ changed back and forth several times (one second I would be finished for the day, the next second I was going to be running again).  This is typical of an outdoor sport like ours, and as always it was a great learning experience!"

"Two downhills in one day, what more could one ask for? Although I DNF’d both runs, I had an awesome time on the parts of the downhill that I got to race!"

"The volunteers worked incredibly hard after the snowfall to make the track safe and smooth, it ran slower and smoother, raising the level of confidence we had on the track; we could really push ourselves and it made for a great race!"

"After eight DNF’s in a row my mental game was struggling. I was very happy to complete a solid race run today. The track was in superb condition and I am now looking forward to implementing what I learned today in future races!"

JOCELYN RAMSDEN
"The downhills were a bit of a disappointment for me so it was awesome to come out and win the super g today. When I crossed the line today I knew I couldn’t have skied that run any better. When I looked at the timing display I thought the number was a 7 but when I looked closer I realized it was a 1! I was so stoked I hadn’t won a race since first year K2 so it was a big deal."

"The volunteers have been doing a great job keeping the track in good shape even with the fresh snow we got a couple days ago."
