BC Alpine announces the 2011 BC Ski Team selection and nomination process for the 2010-11 Training Group and the BC Ski Team. The new criteria includes the BC Alpine “Evaluation Camp” which will review the performance level of the nominated skiers.
“The national development system has changed in Canada so we’ve adapted our criteria to get in line with this system,” said Gordie Bowles, BC Alpine Athletic Director. “I believe we’ve created a fair process for selecting the provincial ski team. The intention of the new selection process is to evaluate the entire athletic makeup of our skiers. Results and rankings will continue to drive the process but the spring Evaluation Camp will give the coaching staff an opportunity to review the skills, fitness levels and commitment of each nominated skier.”
The BC Ski Team is an elite development program that is designed to select BC’s best performing ski racers and provide them with enhanced training and competitive opportunities.
