Coach Williams on BC Ski Team’s Invaluable Olympic Forerunning Experience | BC Alpine Ski Association

Hello BC Ski Team Fans,

Well, what a month of ski racing February was! The men’s team started the month preparing for the forerunning positions at the Olympic Games. Our team was instrumental in assisting with the preparation of the alpine courses and races. It was an incredible opportunity for us, as it became one of the best environments to become proficient in executing the plan from course inspection. All of the racers were active in this process and showed the skill required to handle the tough tracks provided by VANOC and that notorious band of weasels.

We would like to thank all of those who helped and supported us in the process. Special thanks must go to Pete Bosinger and his crew as well as Glenn Thomsen and Don Lyon who made it all possible. The benefits will last a lifetime for those who were involved in the Games and we are very proud to have been a part of it. Jeff MacLennan and I, as coaches of the BC Men’s Team, hope that this Olympic experience will prove to be ultimate motivator towards the efforts in the future.

If you had an opportunity to witness any of the ‘Athlete Bios’ that were aired by the media during the Games, there seemed to be a common thread running through them. What I saw was that each athlete’s commitment toward success through sacrifice and hardship was so admirable that it seems only a few have the ability to achieve true success. This must be the key, Commitment toward success. I hope that these games will be the catalyst for many future champions, especially in alpine skiing!

Ski well, ski fast & LOOK AHEAD!
